Osteopathy
Osteopathy and what it could mean to YOU.
Osteopathy 101
Osteopathy is a holistic (as in whole, global) approach to treating the body which takes into account every stressful event your body has been through to date. It is natural medicine with a basic philosophy that the body has an innate ability to self-regulate and self-heal. Osteopathic treatment uses a gentle “hands-on” or manual approach to identify areas of the body that are restricted and to gently release these areas in order to restore normal function. Osteopaths’ main tools are their hands and a highly refined sense of palpitation, which they use to assess the state of the body’s tissues and systems.
Did you know?
Your body is like an onion with lots of layers. Those layers represent all accidents that you have been through in your lifetime. They include the fall on your behind when you first put on skates, the first sports injury you ever endured, the minor surgeries you underwent and the car accident you got into when you first got your liscense.
How do we do this?
Osteopathy takes into account all those layers. Osteopathic Manual Practitioners have a strong base in anatomy and physiology upon which to base their manual techniques, which allow them to get you back to doing what you love in an effective manner. Another way to look at it is that osteopathic manual practitioners treat all the links in your chain of injuries.
For example, have you ever been frustrated with an old ankle sprain that keeps coming back or shoulder pain that has never really gone away? One of the reasons that injury keeps coming back is that the ankle or the shoulder isn’t the main problem, it was onle the weakest link in the chain.
SO, next time you get frustrated by your limitations, a stiff knee, a sore neck, why not consider consulting an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner…and get rid of your pain layer by layer.
Now YOU know.
