Doula
As a naturopathic doctor and birth doula, Paulina Zettel accompanies women in labour to help ensure a safe and satisfying birth experience. She draws on her professional training, knowledge and experience to provide emotional support and physical comfort as needed. Doula services include:
2 prenatal visits, not including the initial meeting:
- to discuss information about the pregnancy
- discuss birth preferences and formulate a birth plan
- help prepare for labour and practice comfort techniques
- discuss postpartum and child care preferences
- address any questions or concerns
- offer additional information and resources
- record keeping and sharing contact information
Acupuncture during Pregnancy
Phone and email support from the time of hiring until 2 weeks after the birth
On-call assistance (reachable by pager 24/7) starting 2 weeks before your due date until the birth
Early labour support over the phone or in your home, as needed.
Labour support from the time you request it until 1 to 2 hours after your baby has been born:
- massage, counter pressure, hot or cold packs
- relaxation guidance
- suggestions for position changes
- encouragement, perspective, information about what is happening
- support and breaks for partner
- practical help such as getting drinks and food, running a bath, etc.
Naturopathic labour support during the 2 prenatal visits, labour and postnatal visit:
- nutritional support
- recommendation of botanical tinctures and/or teas
- homeopathic remedies
- acupuncture or acupressure
One postpartum visit:
- Infant care and breastfeeding support
- emotional support
- help with light housework, running errands, other health appointments
- referrals to other resources as required
Access to lending library
Fee: $700 + HST. Any other services beyond the ones listed above will be charged as naturopathic consultations. Any supplements or botanical medicines will be charged separately.
Birthing pool is available for rent.
